...That, is the question.
No, seriously, should we form a guild? Or should we be a role playing group? I can see advantages and disadvantages to either choice and I don't have a strong preference in either direction.
Perhaps having a guild is a good thing if for no other reason than we won't get any anonymous guild invites any time we visit a large city.
Or perhaps we would treat a guild charter as a contract of sorts for whatever "organization" we decide upon in the brainstorming thread.
Anyway, please share your feelings and opinions one way or the other.
I, personally, really like the idea of having a guild. Even if it remains something not IC. The ability to see who's on... where they are, ect is appealing to me because when I'm on, I don't have much time.

I think the premise will be defined as those that choose to do this come forward. It is possible for those that intend to play as chief characters in the days ahead to call themselves by a name, and even cloth themselves in matching tabards if the guild is something that should be identified with by others. But for every player who sees the need to join such a guild, there may be players who won't agree with everything the guild represents, or feel as though they can operate more effectively with regular contact only, but having that "license" to operate outside it's boundaries without worrying about leaving companions behind. Lone wolves, or recluse characters, is what I mean.
I don't believe the notion of what your guild goals are should step on your character storylines. Like was mentioned on the forums, we should just roll with whatever comes our way, and respond as our characters would respond to certain situations. If that means that we must fight to secure Westfall from the Defias bandits for a few weeks, then so be it. The more important thing to recognize within one another is that once a task is done, it's done. Don't get caught in the "respawn" trap!
The undead scourge is a great cross-realm/level/faction story arc. But our characters should uncover this threat as a natural progression, through bits and pieces, and unless you make it a core part of your backstories, others shouldn't know about such a threat until they are directly informed of it.
Right off the bat, I'm looking at Stormwind being a prime place to meet one another. Sounds as though most of us are rerolling characters, and the city acts as a central hub to begin with. I suggest meeting there, feeling one another out, and letting the story flow from there. _________________ "Be True To Your Path"
I agree with Eto. I think that it would be best to let the members decide. If we do decide to do this simply as a group and not a guild then I suggest that we at least have some sort of channel to keepin touch with each other. It'll be difficult to coordinate things and such entirely through whispers.
Ahh, but that's the point of FIRP, no whispers... I agree, let the people choose! _________________ Watch out, or I'll build a ladder wide enough for the centaurs to get up onto Thunder Bluff, and then beef will be for dinner.
Very often, things would likely be organized through mail messages and through face to face meetings. True, whispers are somewhat of a convenience, but they have to be either OOC or considered as originating from some magical source. Many people may claim to have goblin communicators, but I have always found that idea a little contrived. I prefer mail and face to face.
Yea, the hearthstones as walkie-talkies always seemed kinda wierd, and really only those with magical talent could talk through that. (eg: mages, locks, mabye priests and pallys) _________________ Watch out, or I'll build a ladder wide enough for the centaurs to get up onto Thunder Bluff, and then beef will be for dinner.
((I think that a guild would be fine, if members want to join one. I see this as a place for all FIRP'ers to communicate out of game, but a guild with a good story of why it's there would be cool with me, I'd definitely join up!)) _________________ Count Gordonov Andreus

I think we should make a guild to make it easier to keep track of each other. The whole hearthstone walkie talkie thing is what my Horde side RP guild uses, we just call them Buzzboxes.
